Meeting at the Louis Armstrong Archives!

Just a reminder: This Thursday (9/29) our class will be meeting at the Louis Armstrong Archives on campus, in Rosenthal Library (the archives are to the left side of the rotunda, before you enter the glass doors/security gate). This will be a fantastic treat– please be on time and come ready to ask lots of questions.

See you tomorrow, Prof. Herzog

No in-class meeting 9/8

Hello Music Industry students,

A reminder for those who were in class last week, and a greeting to those of you who just joined us.

We will NOT be meeting in class this Thursday as I have a conflict out of town. Instead, you will be watching the film Paris is Burning by Jennie Livingston. A link to a streaming version of the film is provided on Blackboard– you can also access a DVD copy on reserve in the library.

After watching the film, write a short response. The ideal response will reflect not only on the film, but also on some of the questions regarding subcultures that are raised by the readings due next week (9/8). All our readings are available on Blackboard.

Your response can be typed and submitted in class on 9/8 OR you can post it on our class blog. See the sidebar for links to our discussion groups.  If you missed the instructions for logging on, we’ll review this in class next week– just bring a printed copy of your response.

In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to seeing you next Thursday.
